About

I’m Desmond, a software engineer in Singapore.

I started out in mobile, but the problems I work on, and my curiosity, pulled me across the stack — web, backend and data. These days, I manage the mobile engineering team at a digital bank.

Beyond work, I have a hobby of building my home lab, just because I love tinkering around (and sometimes breaking things). Like many engineers, I also have a graveyard of unfinished side projects, which is where I learn the most while having fun.

Outside tech, I like staying active. I run and work out regularly, and have a few Hyrox races and half marathons behind me. I’m happiest when out in nature, on long hikes. I’m also a proud fan of Liverpool FC.

My partner Michelle and I run a home bakery 98bakes. We also share a blog at milesanddays.com, mostly on our adventures and milestones along the way.
